Gas prices across Northern Nevada have risen sharply in recent weeks, with the Reno-Sparks area now seeing some of the highest prices in the state and well above the national average.
According to AAA, the statewide average for regular unleaded sits between $4.86 and $4.91 per gallon as of late March, up slightly from the previous day. Nationally, the average remains lower, hovering around $3.98 to $3.99 per gallon.
GasBuddy reports prices in the Reno area ranging from $5.00 to $5.14 per gallon, with some stations charging as much as $5.25. That marks an increase of more than $1 over the past month.
Sparks prices are falling between $4.80 and $5.20 per gallon, with occasional slightly lower options depending on location. Carson City is seeing prices as low as $4.09 to $4.19 at certain stations, with many locations still trending below the $4.60 mark, often more than 50 cents cheaper than in Washoe County.
Premium gasoline in Nevada is frequently priced between $5.20 and $5.50 or more, while diesel has reached between $5.80 and $6.00 per gallon in some areas.
