Nevada’s top legal official is warning fuel retailers not to take advantage of global instability as gas prices fluctuate across the state.
Attorney General Aaron Ford said recent increases at the pump, influenced by international developments and new California laws, do not justify unlawful price hikes.
The warning comes as drivers statewide report shifting fuel prices, raising concerns that some increases may exceed typical market adjustments.
During the 2024 legislative session, Ford supported Assembly Bill 44, which sought to explicitly prohibit unfair and deceptive price fixing for essential goods and services, including gasoline. Gov. Joe Lombardo vetoed the bill.
Despite that setback, the Attorney General’s Office said it will continue to rely on existing consumer protection laws to investigate potential violations and hold businesses accountable.
