Current and former Nevada state employees will see higher health insurance premiums beginning in July, following approval by the Public Employees’ Benefits Board (PEBB) at a March 19 meeting.
PEBB Executive Officer Therea Carsten stated the increases for Plan Year 2027 were necessary due to rising healthcare costs, prescription drug prices, and the need to maintain financial stability within the program. According to PEBB’s posted rates and benefits, monthly premiums will increase by between $68.39 and $378.11 for two of the three plans, with increases phased in over three years.
Carsten added that PEBP will work to prevent similar shortfalls in the future by exploring new options to manage costs while continuing to provide high-quality coverage.
