A Clark County School District special education teacher is facing multiple charges involving alleged sex crimes against a child.
Douglas Trinkle, 52, was taken into custody last week by Boulder City police, according to jail records. He faces charges including lewdness with a child between 14 and 15 years old, sexual assault of a minor under 16, statutory sexual seduction, and two counts of child abuse or neglect.
As of Wednesday afternoon, Trinkle remained in custody at the Clark County Detention Center.
The Clark County School District confirmed it is aware of the arrest and stated Trinkle will not be allowed on any CCSD campus. Trinkle most recently worked at Cimarron-Memorial High School.
According to state records, Trinkle has held a Nevada teaching license since at least 2012 and has previously worked at Sierra Vista High School, Cheyenne High School, and Variety Elementary.
In 2016, the National Association of Special Education Teachers recognized him with an Outstanding Special Education Teacher Award.
A court status check in the case is on April 7.
