Reno city officials stated on Thursday that maintaining stability and public trust remains the top priority as an independent investigation into alleged misconduct within the Reno Police Department continues.
Reno City Manager Jackie Bryant and newly appointed Acting Police Chief Corey Solferino provided the update. However, details of the allegations and the names of the five officers remain undisclosed.
The investigation began earlier this week when Police Chief Kathryn Nance and five other officers were relieved of duty and placed on paid administrative leave following potential violations of city policy.
Former Reno Police Chief Oliver Miller, who recently resigned as Chair of the Nevada Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Commission, denied any wrongdoing. In a statement, Miller said his resignation “should not be interpreted as an admission of wrongdoing” and emphasized that the decision was to protect the integrity of the commission.
He remains employed with the Reno Police Department.
Separately, former Deputy Reno Police Chief Tom Robinson, retired in January 2024, was arrested last October as part of a sting operation targeting human trafficking. He faces charges of soliciting a minor for prostitution and child abuse or neglect.
The operation resulted in the arrests of 12 other suspects.
Robinson appeared in court on November 12 for a status hearing, where the judge granted attorneys additional time to prepare. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
