Nevada Traffic Deaths Down Nearly 24 Percent

Nevada has recorded a 24 percent decline in traffic fatalities so far this year, even as speeding and impairment remain major factors in deadly crashes, according to state officials.

Through early March, the state has logged 54 traffic deaths, compared with a higher toll at the same point last year. Clark County accounts for the majority, with 36 fatalities reported on roads.

Pedestrians and unrestrained motorists continue to be particularly at risk. Of the 54 deaths, 17 involved people on foot, while seven involved drivers or passengers not wearing seat belts, highlighting the life-saving importance of basic safety precautions.
