A 28-year-old Carson City man was arrested on felony drug charges Tuesday after deputies responding to a report of a possible intruder discovered suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia inside his home.
Deputies went to a residence on Airport Road after the property’s landlord reported that his tenant had called to say someone was on the roof attempting to break in.
When deputies arrived, they were granted consent by the 28-year-old tenant to enter the residence. According to the report, deputies inside the home located a pipe commonly used to smoke methamphetamine containing a white powdery substance believed to be meth, along with a green “meth bong” that also contained a similar substance.
The man denied that the items belonged to him. He told deputies his former roommate had left the items.
He claimed the former roommate had entered the home through the attic and placed the pipe and suspected methamphetamine on his bed before deputies arrived.
However, deputies reported that all doors and the attic access were locked and secured when they checked the home.
The man told deputies he had gone outside to meet them and made sure to lock everything before doing so. While outside, he said he believed someone had entered his room after noticing that his bedroom blinds had moved.
He told deputies the former roommate must have somehow gotten inside and left the drugs and paraphernalia on his bed.
When asked if he had actually seen the former roommate inside the home, the man said he had not. He also confirmed that he lives alone and said the former roommate had been “kicked out” the previous Saturday.
Deputies reported finding no signs of forced entry at the residence.
Despite the circumstances, the man maintained that the items did not belong to him and said the former roommate had brought them into the house.
Deputies took the man into custody on suspicion of felony possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. He was transported to the Carson City jail and released to jail staff without incident.
