A 48-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday morning on suspicion of misdemeanor domestic battery and violating pretrial supervision conditions following a reported disturbance at a residence on Viking Way.
Deputies were dispatched to the residence at about 7 a.m. on a report of a domestic battery. When deputies arrived, they contacted the man and the alleged victim, who were both waiting outside the residence.
The man told deputies the two had been arguing and described the conflict as “an ongoing issue.” He denied touching or hitting the woman and told deputies the bruise on her back occurred when she was “hit by a tree when he cut it down.”
According to the report, he repeatedly denied “doing anything” to the victim.
Deputies then spoke with the woman, who told them she was involved in a physical altercation with the man in Reno on March 1 that resulted in a bruise on her back. She said another incident occurred on Wednesday that left additional bruising on her arms and legs.
The woman told deputies the man had grabbed and hit her during Wednesday’s incident, leaving marks on her arms and legs. She also said that during the March 1 incident, the man kicked her in the back, causing the bruise on the lower left side of her back.
The woman further told deputies that earlier Thursday morning, the man pulled her hair and was “poking her in the head.”
Deputies documented multiple visible injuries, including two scratches on the victim’s right arm, a bruise near the elbow, a small bruise near the shoulder, bruising on her right knee area, and a bruise on the lower left side of her back. The bruising was still “black and blue” and had not turned yellow or brown, which the deputy noted suggested the injuries were recent.
Deputies took the man into custody on suspicion of first-offense misdemeanor domestic battery. During the arrest, deputies also learned the man was under supervision with the Department of Alternative Sentencing (DAS). Officials with DAS requested that he be placed on hold for violating his pretrial conditions, according to the report.
