Violent Domestic Altercation in Carson Leads to Arrests

Two people were arrested Saturday on felony domestic battery charges following a violent altercation that deputies say involved a knife, strangulation, and multiple assaults, according to a Carson City Sheriff’s Office booking report.

Arrested was Adina Guerrero, who faces suspicion of domestic battery with a deadly weapon causing substantial bodily harm, possession of a controlled substance, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

Also arrested was Albert Rodriguez, who faces suspicion of domestic battery with strangulation, possession of a controlled substance, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

Deputies responded after a reporting party told dispatchers they saw a man on top of a woman in a parking lot during what appeared to be a domestic assault. The man was Rodriguez, and the woman, as Guerrero.

When deputies arrived, they learned that the woman had left the area on foot, but that the man remained at the location. Deputies located the woman.

Deputies attempted to contact Rodriguez, who initially refused to open the door and told officers he did not want to speak with them to give his side of the story. While trying to speak with Rodriguez, other deputies began interviewing witnesses.

One witness told deputies they were watching security camera footage when they saw Rodriguez strike Guerrero multiple times and throw her to the ground. Deputies reported Guerrero had bruising on her face and scratches consistent with being struck and thrown down.

Deputies reviewed surveillance video that showed Guerrero walking around Rodriguez’s truck while holding a knife and attempting to walk upstairs toward a room. At one point, a bicycle was thrown down the stairs toward her, according to the report.

Rodriguez then emerged from the stairwell and pushed Guerrero before slapping her several times, the report states. Guerrero then raised the knife toward him and ran to the west side of his truck.

Rodriguez continued confronting her, but then turned and began walking away. As he did so, deputies say Guerrero slashed the knife across his back, cutting his shirt.

Rodriguez then turned and struck and kicked Guerrero multiple times before grabbing her by the throat and wrestling her to the ground, the report states. He then took the knife from her and went upstairs to a room. Guerrero then left the property.

Deputies began preparing a search warrant, but were able to convince Rodriguez to come out of the room and take him into custody.

With a warrant, the room wassearched to locate the knife used in the incident. Deputies found a hypodermic needle containing clear fluid in plain view on a nightstand, along with two vials, one empty and another containing clear liquid, and two glass pipes with white residue in the room.

Investigators also found court paperwork and three knives matching the description provided by Guerrero inside the kitchen area of the room. The suspected drugs, paraphernalia, and knives were seized and booked into evidence.

Deputies took Guerrero to the Carson City Jail. Rodriguez was transported to the hospital for medical clearance after showing signs of being under the influence of drugs, before he too was booked into jail.
