A 50-year-old man was arrested Thursday evening on suspicion of misdemeanor DUI, second offense, according to a Carson City Sheriff’s Office booking report.
At approximately 5:45 p.m., a deputy assisted a detective who had initiated a traffic stop after observing a driver swerving within his lane and failing to use a turn signal before turning into a parking lot.
According to the report, the detective noted the driver smelled of alcohol and cigarettes upon contact.
A deputy asked the man to step out of the vehicle and observed that it had an ignition interlock device. When asked whether he had used the device before starting the vehicle, the man reportedly said he had not. He also told deputies he had consumed a beer at a friend’s house.
The man agreed to participate in standardized field sobriety tests and showed signs of impairment, authorities said. He provided a preliminary breath test with a reported result of .194.
Deputies arrested him on suspicion of DUI, second offense. The man also consented to an evidentiary breath test at the jail, blowing a .152 and .156, according to the booking report.
