temporarily removed from all cases and committee assignmentsA Washoe County district judge is formally removed from all cases and committee assignments temporarily, according to a new administrative order issued Monday.
Chief District Judge Egan K. Walker signed the order immediately removing Judge Connie J. Steinheimer from all matters assigned to Department 4 of the Second Judicial District Court. The order states Steinheimer is not permitted to take action on any current or pending cases in her department or elsewhere within the district court until further notice.
Walker wrote that he has the authority to reassign cases as necessary to ensure the court system operates in an orderly and fair manner.
The order took effect immediately and will remain in place until a subsequent order is issued. There remains no explanation for Walker’s decision.
The development comes during a period of upheaval within the local court system. Earlier this year, Family Court Judge Bridget Robb resigned unexpectedly amid stalking allegations involving a local attorney. Court filings in that matter described the two as having a long-term personal relationship.
