Carson City Man Arrested After Ramming Ex-Girlfriend’s Vehicle

A 26-year-old man followed his ex-girlfriend and intentionally struck her vehicle on Monday, according to the Carson City County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies booked Jose Gallegos on suspicion of felony assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a controlled substance, reckless driving, and violation of probation, according to the Carson City Sheriff’s Office.

A deputy stopped Gallegos’ black hatchback on Fairview Drive after observing it following a silver sedan at an unsafe distance. Dispatch had simultaneously broadcast a report of a road rage incident involving the same vehicles.

The woman driving the silver sedan told deputies that Gallegos, her ex-boyfriend, followed her from a casino, blocked her vehicle at a fast food restaurant, and later struck her car near East William Street and Gold Dust Way. Deputies reported observing paint transfer consistent with her statement. Street camera footage allegedly shows the hatchback pulling alongside the sedan and colliding with it.

Gallegos admitted to following the woman because he wanted to talk to her, but denied hitting her vehicle, according to the report.

A K9 alerted to drugs in Gallegos’ vehicle, and deputies reported finding suspected methamphetamine on the driver’s seat, which later tested positive. He is also on hold for an alleged probation violation.

Deputies reported no injuries.
