Man Sentenced in Sparks Domestic Battery Case

A judge has sentenced a man after his conviction of domestic battery in a case stemming from an incident last August.

David Walker was sentenced in Sparks Municipal Court to the maximum term of 180 days in the Washoe County Jail, suspended for up to two years, under several conditions. As part of the sentence, Walker must serve two active days in jail, complete 48 hours of community service, pay a $200 fine plus administrative assessments, and pay a $35 domestic violence fee.

He is also required to complete 26 weeks of domestic violence counseling, undergo regular drug and alcohol testing, be placed on formal probation through Sparks Municipal Court, and obey all laws.

The charge stems from an Aug. 15 incident when Walker contacted the Sparks Police Department to report that the victim had taken their two-week-old child.

According to police reports, the victim told officers Walker had been drinking, and the two got into an argument. She said she left the residence with the infant, which upset Walker.

Once outside, Walker allegedly grabbed the victim’s cell phone and threw it across a parking lot. Police say he then grabbed her by the hair and pulled her to the ground while she was cradling the child.

Officers reported observing scratches and dried blood on the victim. Walker told police the victim had fallen while holding the baby.

Walker was arrested Nov. 14 in connection with the incident.
