Woman Sentenced in Fatal Reno Hit-and-Run

A woman will spend up to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty in connection with a deadly hit-and-run crash that killed a bicyclist in Reno last August.

Denice Roland-Hernandez received her sentence on Thursday. She pleaded guilty in December to duty to stop at the scene of a crash involving death and driving without a valid driver’s license. She will be eligible for parole after serving four years.

The charges stem from an August 26 crash on Wells Avenue near Sadlier Way.

Reno police, Reno Fire, and REMSA personnel responded to the scene at approximately 4:39 a.m. after reports of a collision involving a bicyclist. Medical personnel pronounced the bicyclist dead at the scene.
