A distracted driver crashed into a Sparks Police motorcycle Friday night while officers were working a separate crash, causing significant damage to the bike, according to the Sparks Police Department.
The incident happened around 7:15 p.m. on February 13 near Vista Boulevard and North Los Altos Parkway.
Police said an SPD motor officer was on scene completing a crash report. His motorcycle was parked in the roadway with its emergency lights activated, diverting traffic away from the crash site.
As the officer was finishing the report, a distracted driver struck the parked motorcycle. The officer was away from the bike at the time and was not injured.
The driver who hit the motorcycle was not injured and remained at the scene, cooperating with the investigation.
