U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen is demanding the resignation of Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick following revelations that he visited Jeffrey Epstein’s private island in 2012.
Lutnick had previously stated that he cut off all contact with the convicted sex trafficker after Epstein’s 2005 conviction. Newly released files, however, indicate that Lutnick maintained contact well after Epstein’s 2008 conviction for soliciting a minor and visited his island years later.
“I was appalled to see that Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick was included in the files and that he clearly misled the American people when he claimed he cut off all contact with Epstein in 2005, “Rosen stated. “To protect the trust of the American people and uphold the honor of his office, Howard Lutnick must immediately resign.”
Lutnick has not responded to the request.
