Reno Police say the officer injured in a deadly officer-involved shooting on the Wells Avenue Bridge Tuesday evening is out of the hospital.
In an update on Wednesday, police confirmed the officer is recovering, but did not release additional details about the nature of the injuries.
The shooting occurred Tuesday afternoon after officers responded to a welfare check around 4 p.m. on the Wells Avenue Bridge, according to the Reno Police Department. Officers made contact with a person at the scene and spoke with them for several minutes before a shooting occurred at approximately 4:15 p.m., according to the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office.
The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation into the shooting, with assistance from the Sparks Police Department. The investigation remains ongoing.
