A 26-year-old woman was arrested Sunday on multiple felony charges, including attempted murder, after Carson City Sheriff’s Office deputies say she intentionally struck her boyfriend with a vehicle and then led law enforcement on a high-speed pursuit through the city and onto Interstate 580.
Deputies arrested Medine Techmuradova following an investigation into a vehicle-versus-pedestrian incident reported at 8:54 a.m. at a hotel on North Carson Street. They booked her into the Carson City Jail on suspicion of attempted murder with a deadly weapon, assault with a deadly weapon, domestic battery with a deadly weapon causing substantial bodily harm, and eluding police while endangering persons or property.
Deputies received reports that a vehicle had struck a pedestrian and fled the scene. The Jeep was traveling eastbound on Arrowhead Drive. When deputies arrived, they recognized the injured man from a prior contact earlier that morning involving a domestic dispute with his girlfriend, later identified as Techmuradova.
During the earlier incident, deputies contacted the couple and determined it was a verbal dispute. Techmuradova, who was driving a gray four-door Jeep Wrangler, denied any physical altercation and declined to explain why she had contacted dispatch. The man told deputies he wished to continue riding with her as long as she remained calm, according to the report.
Shortly afterward, dispatch notified deputies of the hit-and-run involving the same individuals. A deputy located the Jeep and attempted a traffic stop, but the vehicle failed to yield and fled, initiating a pursuit.
Meanwhile, Carson City Fire Department personnel responded to the hotel and began treating the victim before having him flown to a hospital by Care Flight.
Investigators later obtained and reviewed surveillance video from the hotel. The footage shows the victim attempting to cross North Carson Street near Silver Oak Drive.
Techmuradova’s vehicle then travels in the wrong lane before making several maneuvers toward the victim. After the victim initially avoided being struck, the video shows the Jeep making a U-turn, accelerating, and hitting the man as he walked westbound. The victim was thrown onto the sidewalk near a bus stop, while the Jeep continued north on Carson Street without stopping.
After Techmuradova’s arrest, detectives interviewed her, which ended when she requested an attorney. Before that request, she told deputies the man jumped in front of her vehicle and that she attempted to maneuver around him, but still struck him.
Based on the investigation and review of the video footage, deputies concluded she intentionally used the vehicle to cause bodily harm or death. The report states the Jeep accelerated toward the victim and did not slow down or stop at any point before or after the collision.
During the subsequent pursuit, a deputy reported observing the Jeep traveling southbound on Fairview Drive at speeds approaching 100 mph, crossing double yellow lines, and driving into oncoming traffic. The vehicle later entered I-580 southbound, continuing at high speeds while weaving between autos and driving on the shoulder.
The pursuit continued through the South Carson Street and U.S. 50 West intersection, where deputies reported heavy traffic conditions. The Jeep ultimately exited onto U.S. 50 and came to a stop east of Golf Club Drive. Deputies blocked the vehicle to prevent further flight, ordered Techmuradova out of the Jeep, and took her into custody without further incident.
While being transported to the detective division, Techmuradova reportedly told deputies the man jumped in front of her car and that she attempted to avoid hitting him. She also asked whether the victim had died and made statements about prior overdose attempts. According to the report, deputies noted she showed little remorse and appeared primarily concerned about being released from jail.
The investigation remains ongoing.
