Deputies Search for At-Risk Runaway Teen

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) is asking for the public’s help in locating a 15-year-old girl reported missing from Dayton.

Deputies responded to a residence in Dayton shortly before 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21, for a report of a runaway juvenile. According to the LCSO, the teen, identified as Zoey Stephens, left the home around 1 p.m. that afternoon.

Authorities say Stephens left the residence on foot and left behind a note indicating she was safe and with a friend in Carson City. However, deputies have not been able to confirm her whereabouts.

Investigators say Stephens did not take her cellphone with her, but she does have her school-issued laptop. The sheriff’s office said Stephens, who has a documented history of running away, is considered an at-risk juvenile due to multiple medical conditions.

Anyone with information should contact the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office or local law enforcement immediately.
