Three suspects were arrested on drug-related charges Saturday afternoon following a traffic stop in Storey County, according to the Storey County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities say a sheriff’s deputy conducted a traffic enforcement stop on a vehicle in the Tahoe Reno Industrial Center shortly before 3 p.m. on Jan. 17. Three occupants were inside the automobile at the time of the stop.
A K9 deputy responded to assist, along with K9 Hera. Deputies deployed Hera to conduct a free air sniff around the vehicle, during which the K9 gave a positive alert indicating the odor of narcotics, authorities said.
Following the alert, deputies searched the vehicle and reportedly located several drug pipes and suspected methamphetamine.
The occupants were Michael Dennis, 58, of Costa Mesa, California; Andrew Rouse, 44, of Las Vegas; and Brian Smith, 57, of Chandler, Arizona. Deputies arrested all three.
Dennis was arrested on charges of possession of a Schedule I or II controlled substance, less than 14 grams, third or subsequent offense, and use or possession of drug paraphernalia.
Rouse and Smith were each arrested on charges of possession of a Schedule I or II controlled substance, less than 14 grams, first or second offense, and use or possession of drug paraphernalia.
All charges are allegations, and the investigation remains ongoing.
