Man Sentenced in Child Pornography Case

Las Vegas, Nev. — A former Fernley resident has been sentenced in a federal child pornography case, receiving time served followed by a lengthy period of supervision, according to court records.

Kurtis Lee Solomon was sentenced Monday, Jan. 12, by U.S. District Judge Anne R. Traun to time served and 10 years of parole. The sentence came despite the government recommendation seeking 97 months in prison and a lifetime term of parole.

Court documents indicate Solomon had served approximately three days in custody at the time of sentencing. His conviction was in December 2024 following a federal investigation into his online activity.

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, Solomon knowingly and repeatedly accessed child pornography over an extended period, beginning on an unknown date and continuing through Sept. 9, 2021. Prosecutors said the material involved minors, including preteens and infants.

Investigators reported that Solomon admitted to saving websites containing child pornography in the favorites tab of his internet browser, allowing him access to the illegal material repeatedly. The DOJ said the activity demonstrated a sustained pattern rather than an isolated incident.

Investigators arrested Solomon in April 2022 as part of the investigation. Details about the court’s reasoning for the reduced sentence were not immediately available.

As part of his sentence, Solomon will remain under supervision for the next decade and is required to comply with conditions typical in child exploitation cases, which often include restrictions on internet use and contact with minors.
