Sun Valley, Nev. — A Sun Valley man is in jail on multiple felony charges following a domestic violence incident involving a firearm on Dec. 5, the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office reported.
Deputies responded to a Sun Valley residence after receiving a report of an assault with a deadly weapon. Investigators learned that 28-year-old Angel Diaz had pointed a firearm at his girlfriend while at the victim’s parents’ home. Authorities said the victim was later driven to Diaz’s residence but managed to flee to a neighbor to seek help.
Deputies used drone technology to search the area and located Diaz outside his residence on Honeysuckle Court, where they arrested him without incident. A search of his home turned up a firearm, according to authorities.
Diaz faces charges that include second-degree kidnapping with use of a deadly weapon in violation of a protection order, false imprisonment with a deadly weapon, assault constituting domestic violence with a deadly weapon, and destruction of property constituting domestic violence.
The investigation is ongoing.
