Reno, Nev. — Reno police arrested three people in connection with a shooting that occurred Monday morning on West 5th Street, authorities said.

Officers with the Reno Police Department responded to reports of shots fired at about 9:40 a.m. on Jan. 5 at 255 West 5th Street after multiple callers contacted dispatch. When officers arrived, they detained two suspects who were exiting a room linked to the reports. Police said the door to the room showed numerous bullet strikes.

Officers breached the room to ensure no other people were inside and to confirm no one else was injured. Authorities later requested assistance from the FBI Safe Streets Task Force, the Crime Gun Intelligence Team, and gang detectives.

Following the receipt of a search warrant, multiple firearms were recovered, including one without a serial number.

As the investigation continued, officers identified and arrested a third suspect later that afternoon. Based on evidence found inside the room and in the parking lot, investigators determined that an exchange of gunfire occurred between multiple people stemming from a property dispute.

Brian Collor, 24, was arrested on charges including discharge of a firearm within a structure, endangering a person, and disregard for a person’s safety. Dennis Jackson, 18, was arrested on charges of possession of dangerous drugs, multiple counts of discharging a firearm, and possession of a firearm without a serial number, and Javinte Cox, 21, was arrested on charges including prohibited person in possession of a firearm and discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information should call the Reno Police Department’s non-emergency line at 775-334-2677 or contact Secret Witness by calling or texting 775-322-4900 or submitting a tip online.
