Carson City, Nev. — A 40-year-old Sparks man was arrested Monday evening on multiple charges, including suspicion of misdemeanor DUI, failure to report an accident, duty to give information/render aid, and leaving the scene of an accident with property damage.
Carson City Sheriff’s deputies were called around 5:18 p.m. to the area of South Carson and Clearview for a hit-and-run accident. Witnesses followed the suspect’s white pickup and provided updates to dispatch as the vehicle drove erratically, making circles and random turns.
Deputies located the truck at Roland Street and Silver Sage and attempted a traffic stop. The driver initially denied involvement in the earlier accident.
Officers observed red, watery eyes, slurred speech, and difficulty handling his driver’s license. Alcohol was detected, and the man admitted to having consumed two beers earlier in the day.
The suspect failed field sobriety tests and recorded a preliminary breath test of .119. He was arrested for suspicion of DUI and later agreed to provide a blood sample at the hospital.
Based on deputies’ observations and evidence of front-end damage to the truck consistent with the reported crash, deputies charged him with leaving the scene and failing to provide required information.
