SPANISH SPRINGS, Nev. — A law enforcement response in Spanish Springs on Friday ended with the peaceful arrest of a wanted felon, according to the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies arrested 41-year-old Colin Hartman on December 26 after serving a search warrant at a home on Kathy Terrace. Authorities were attempting to locate Hartman around 11 a.m. while he was outside.
When deputies attempted to make contact, Hartman fled from officers and barricaded himself inside a home connected to him. Deputies quickly established a perimeter around the residence and obtained a search warrant.
Around 1 p.m., the Sheriff’s Office SWAT team was called in to assist, along with the Hostage Negotiations Team, Drone Team, and the Regional Consolidated Bomb Squad. Officials say Hartman refused to communicate with negotiators. With the search warrant in hand, SWAT members located him hiding inside a bedroom.
Deputies took Hartman into custody without incident, with no injuries reported, and booked him for probation violations and the conditions of a suspended sentence. Authorities say he also faces additional felony charges stemming from a separate case involving the Sparks Police Department.
