TRUCKEE, Calif. (Dec. 18, 2025) — Truckee police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect accused of firing multiple shots into a home, resulting in the death of the family dog.
Police said the shooting occurred on Deerfield Drive. No people were injured, but the family’s dog died as a result of the gunfire.
Witnesses described the suspect as a Hispanic man between 18 and 20 years old, approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall, and weighing about 170 pounds. He has a light complexion, short black hair, and a mustache.
Investigators said video surveillance showed the suspect on Dec. 2 and again on Dec. 9, when the shooting occurred. In both instances, the suspect was wearing the same clothing and carrying a box believed to contain a firearm.
Police are asking anyone who recognizes the suspect or has information about the incident to contact the Truckee Police Department.
