SPARKS, Nev. (Dec. 17, 2025) — A Sparks family was taken to the hospital on Tuesday after detecting dangerously high levels of carbon monoxide inside their home.

The Sparks Fire Department responded on Tuesday afternoon to the report of a gas odor at the residence. Upon arrival, fire crews detected carbon monoxide readings exceeding 500 parts per million, a level considered extremely dangerous.

The family was immediately evacuated from the home and transported to the hospital by REMSA as a precaution. Meanwhile, firefighters ventilated the residence and coordinated with NV Energy to ensure the house was safe before clearing the scene.

Authorities remind residents to install functioning carbon monoxide detectors in their homes. Carbon monoxide is a colorless and odorless gas that can be deadly in high concentrations.
