Two Gentlemen Who Prefer Not to Be Found

Pershing County deputies are seeking two men who have developed a principled objection to supervision, accountability, and the general idea of being where the law expects them to be.

First is Ryan Peters, 24, modestly built at 5 feet 8 inches and 140 pounds, with brown hair and eyes to match, and wanted on a collection of charges that read like a short course in poor decision-making, including battery on a peace officer without a deadly weapon, a felony parole and probation violation, destruction or concealment of evidence, a probation violation tied to a gross misdemeanor, and possession of drug paraphernalia. It is an impressive list for a young man who might have chosen a quieter hobby, like gardening.

The second is Brandon Small, 28, standing 6 feet 1 inch and weighing about 185 pounds, with blond hair and blue eyes, a description that might suit a catalog model, if not for the felony parole and probation warrant attached to it. Mr. Small, like his colleague in evasion, appears to have concluded that rules are best at a distance.

The sheriff’s office, representing that unfashionable institution known as order, would like a word with both men. Citizens who happen upon either are encouraged to contact the Pershing County Sheriff’s Office at 775-273-2641 or notify their local law enforcement.

Freedom is a grand thing. It is.

But it has a stubborn habit of requiring responsibility, and when that bill comes due, some fellows take to wandering. The county, regrettably for them, has decided to collect.
