A Polish national who admitted to photographing U.S. military installations in Nevada without authorization received a sentence of time served.
Michal Miroslaw Rokita traveled to the United States on a Polish passport with what federal prosecutors described as the intent to unlawfully capture images and audio recordings of military sites and equipment.
According to the U.S. Department of Justice, between April 7 and April 14, Rokita took photographs of facilities and equipment at the Nevada Test and Training Range and the Tonopah Test Range without permission from the installation commander.
According to prosecutors, Rokita also transmitted the images and videos to another individual, a naturalized U.S. citizen who runs a website called DreamlandResort.
On April 11, Rokita met with that individual in Las Vegas and participated in a livestream event titled “Our fearless Field Investigator Michal reports from his recent recon mission to Tikaboo Peak,” during which they displayed and discussed numerous photos and video recordings.
Rokita pleaded guilty to one count of photographing defense installations without authorization and one count of publishing photographs of defense installations without authorization.
U.S. District Judge Maximiliano D. Couvillier III sentenced Rokita.
