Nevada to Close Two Conservation Camps

The Nevada Department of Corrections will close Carlin Conservation Camp and Jean Conservation Camp by July 1.

All inmates will be relocated to other facilities by June 30. Staff will have the opportunity to transfer to other positions within the department or other state positions. Meanwhile, crews will remain on site, removing equipment and supplies.

The Carlin facility will be returned to the city, while the closure of the Jean camp is not expected to impact the surrounding community.
