Driver Arrested for DUI After Crash

A driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after crashing his vehicle into a tree near Pope Beach on Saturday night, according to the California Highway Patrol – South Lake Tahoe.

The incident occurred at approximately 10:30 p.m. on April 11 when a northbound vehicle on State Route 89 near Pope Beach left the roadway and collided with a tree. The driver exited the vehicle and sought medical attention for moderate injuries.

When officers located the driver, they observed “objective signs and symptoms of intoxication,” according to a CHP statement. The driver allegedly admitted to both driving and crashing the vehicle, leading to his arrest on suspicion of DUI.
