Senator Cortez Masto, thanks for the form letter, but let’s cut the crap. Your response to the SAVE America Act is a masterclass in Communist doublespeak, long, fancy words, and zero understanding of the problem.
Let’s be brutally clear: this isn’t about punishing anyone. It’s about making sure illegal aliens aren’t voting in our federal elections.
And yes, I’m going to call it like it is: your excuses are horseshit.
First, you claim the law is unnecessary because it’s “already illegal” for noncitizens to vote and such cases are “extremely rare.” Are you serious?
Making something illegal does not magically prevent it. Drunk driving is illegal, yet we still have sobriety checkpoints.
The National Voter Registration Act doesn’t even require states to check citizenship. Absence of evidence is evidence of an effing unmonitored system, and that’s what the SAVE Act fixes. It creates the checkpoints you pretend don’t exist.
Next, your bullshit about disenfranchisement, forcing Americans to show a passport or a birth certificate plus photo ID, is a deliberate lie. Most Americans already carry the necessary documents: REAL ID, military ID, naturalization certificate, and the American Indian KIC card.
For those who don’t, there’s an attestation under penalty of perjury. No one is left out, so stop pretending a law that 83% of Americans, including 64% of Black and Hispanic Americans, support is some Orwellian plot.
Then there’s your panicked claim that voter rolls would be “shared” with the Trump administration. Verification of citizenship is already shared by federal agencies for various purposes, including social security and driver’s licenses. The SAVE system is secure, routine, and free, and doesn’t hand a loaded gun to the government; it applies existing tools to stop ineligible voters.
You cry about “rural voters,” “mail-in voters,” “married women who changed their names.” Give me a break.
A marriage certificate or court order fixes the name issue. Mail-in voters can prove citizenship just like anyone else.
The infrastructure exists. Acting now isn’t reckless, but it is responsible, like your cowardly excuse for inaction.
And let’s talk numbers: 84% of Americans agree only citizens should vote, including 76% of Democrats and 78% of Leftists. In Nevada, 73% of voters approved a Voter ID ballot initiative in 2024.
The people spoke, and you’ve ignored them. Your claim that the SAVE Act “blocks millions of eligible voters” is a bald-faced lie designed to scare the public.
Senator, here’s the truth: your “reasoning” is a pile of partisan ass-covering. The SAVE America Act prevents thousands of illegal aliens from being automatically registered without consent, preserves every legal path for actual citizens, and protects the integrity of our elections.
Integrity and participation are not mutually exclusive, and Georgia proved it: after voter ID enforcement, turnout hit record highs, even among minority voters. So stop pretending that securing federal elections is optional.
Stop spinning fear-mongering about married women, rural voters, or nonexistent mass disenfranchisement. The American people are not fools.
It isn’t complicated. Either you stand for the integrity of our elections, or you stand with the chaos.
