Nevada Ethics Commission Fines Lt. Gov.

The Nevada Commission on Ethics has ruled that Lt. Gov. Stavros Anthony improperly used state resources to promote a task force focused on women’s sports, issuing a $3,000 fine and ordering corrective actions.

In a 3-2 vote during a Wednesday meeting, the commission found Anthony violated multiple state statutes by using his official email and social media accounts to promote the Lieutenant Governor’s Task Force to Protect Women’s Sports.

Anthony launched the task force in January 2025. The group was advocating for policies that protected female athletes from competing in sports leagues aligned with their gender.

The ethics complaint was filed in February 2025 by the Nevadans for Equal Rights Committee. The complaint alleged Anthony improperly used state staff to support the task force.

While the staff charge was dismissed, the commission concluded that Anthony’s use of official communication channels to promote the initiative crossed ethical boundaries.

In addition to the fine, Anthony must complete ethics training and implement a formal social media policy within the lieutenant governor’s office.
