Washoe County Completes Voter Roll Maintenance

The Washoe County Registrar of Voters has completed bulk maintenance of the county’s voter registration list following the 2024 election cycle.

According to the registrar’s office, the maintenance process took place between December 2024 and March 2026, resulting in tens of thousands of updates to voter records.

During this period, 75,721 address confirmation notices went out to voters via the U.S. Postal Service. Over 55,500 active voter registrations were changed to inactive status, while 25,012 inactive registrations ended up canceled as a result of the maintenance.

The first major update occurred on February 20, 2025, when 8,628 voters got moved to inactive status after failing to respond to address confirmation notices. On April 2, 2025, the registrar’s office canceled 25,012 voter registrations that had remained inactive for two general election cycles, as required by election law.

Additional updates continued throughout the year. On September 1, 2025, 3,635 voters moved to inactive status due to a lack of response to address confirmation notices. On November 5, 2025, 32,396 voters moved to inactive status for failing to respond to address confirmations.

The most recent update occurred on March 10, 2026, when 10,842 voters were moved to inactive status after not responding to address confirmation notices sent by the Electronic Registration Information Center (ERIC) program.
