Suspect Arrested After Pursuit in Churchill County

One person was arrested Sunday night following a police pursuit that ended on Fallon Paiute Shoshone tribal land, according to the Churchill County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a black passenger vehicle at approximately 7:15 p.m. on March 1 after observing a traffic violation. Authorities said the driver failed to yield, prompting a pursuit.

During the chase, the vehicle reportedly reached a high rate of speed. Deputies discontinued the pursuit due to what they described as the driver’s reckless actions and concerns for public safety.

Deputies found the vehicle abandoned on Fallon Paiute Shoshone tribal land. With assistance from the Fallon Paiute Shoshone Police Department and K9 Tokos of the Churchill County Sheriff’s Office, deputies located a suspect hiding nearby and took the individual into custody.

The suspect was booked on suspicion of driving under the influence, being a felon in possession of two firearms, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and numerous traffic violations.
