Emergency responders stayed busy across northern Nevada, responding to a ravine rescue in Sun Valley, a barricade situation in Reno, and even a cattle crossing in rural Eureka County.
On Thursday at approximately 10:45 a.m., deputies with the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office and personnel from Truckee Meadows Fire & Rescue responded to the area of El Rancho Drive and Clinton Court in Sun Valley after a person fell into a small ravine.
Crews worked together to pull the person out of the ravine. The person went to the local hospital for evaluation of minor injuries. No additional details about how the fall occurred were immediately available.
In Reno, two people on Saturday barricaded themselves inside a home on Denslowe Drive.
Reno Police said officers were conducting a “shots fired” investigation just after 4 p.m. when the incident unfolded. Authorities have not released the names of those arrested.
Meanwhile, in Eureka County, the Nevada State Police traded typical highway enforcement for herd control on Friday, Feb. 27.
Troopers assisted with a cattle crossing on State Route 306 at Interstate 80, helping local ranchers move livestock across the roadway. In a Facebook post, the agency noted, “While not an everyday part of our job, we like to do our part to assist our local ranchers while keeping traffic from turning into udder chaos.”
The post added that it was “a perfect opportunity to be outside (even if our animal friends were a little moo-dy).”
No injuries occurred during the cattle crossing.
