Vegas Man Sentenced for Drug Trafficking

A Las Vegas man has been sentenced to 150 months in federal prison after being convicted on multiple drug trafficking charges, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.

Elijah Sylee Shelton was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Andrew P. Gordon to 12½ years in prison, followed by four years of supervised release. Shelton was found guilty of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, fentanyl, and cocaine.

Federal prosecutors said that in June 2023, Shelton was found in possession of more than 300 grams of methamphetamine, more than 45 grams of fentanyl, and nearly 6 grams of cocaine, all intended for distribution.

According to the DOJ, Shelton concealed most of the drugs in women’s purses hidden inside the ventilation system of his apartment.

Shelton has prior convictions, including burglary and carrying a firearm during a crime of violence. Authorities said he was on parole at the time of his arrest in the current case.
