Workplace Dispute Ends in Fatal Las Vegas Shooting

A workplace dispute turned deadly Sunday evening when a former employee was shot and killed outside a business near Charleston Boulevard and Fort Apache Road, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

Officers responded at approximately 5:15 p.m. to South Fort Apache Road after receiving a 9-1-1 call reporting a man chasing another man with a firearm.

When patrol officers arrived, they located a man in the parking lot suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Officers immediately rendered aid until medical personnel arrived, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Preliminary investigation indicates the incident stemmed from a dispute at the business. Police said a former employee arrived at the location and confronted a current employee.

The confrontation escalated when the ex-employee allegedly began chasing the worker while armed with a gun. A second employee retrieved a firearm from his personal vehicle and shot the armed individual who was pursuing the other worker.

The shooter remained at the scene before being taken into custody by responding officers. Homicide detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
