A 23-year-old man was arrested in Reno earlier this month following a months-long investigation into alleged child sex trafficking, according to law enforcement officials.
Melvon Bellard was taken into custody on February 5 after investigators with the regional Human Exploitation and Trafficking Unit (H.E.A.T.) developed information that he would be in the Reno area.
Investigators say the case involves a 16-year-old female victim recovered during an operation in December 2025. Authorities allege Bellard had been trafficking the victim since she was 15 years old, in Nevada and California.
Bellard was arrested on charges including sex trafficking of a child, child abuse for sexual exploitation, and attempted living off the earnings of prostitution. He was also booked on charges in a separate case, including pandering, attempted living off the earnings of prostitution, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, and possession of a firearm without a serial number.
