A 44-year-old man was taken into custody on Thursday for suspicion of misdemeanor battery and an outstanding felony warrant, according to the Carson City Sheriff’s Office.
Following an investigation, deputies arrested Rendon Hernandez on the battery allegation and a felony warrant issued Oct. 29, 2008, out of Sparks Township Justice Court, according to a booking report.
Deputies responded to East William Street for a reported battery. Upon arrival, deputies contacted the victim, who told officers he had been sitting in his vehicle when the suspect approached and began arguing with him about past incidents. The victim said he vaguely knew the man.
According to the report, the victim said the suspect punched the driver’s side window and then struck him in the face with a closed fist. Deputies noted the victim had a cut and swelling on his lower lip, as well as redness on the right side of his face, injuries consistent with the reported assault. The victim told deputies he wished to press charges.
Deputies later located the suspect and conducted a records check, which confirmed the outstanding felony warrant from Sparks Township Justice Court.
Hernandez was taken into custody and booked into jail. No further information was immediately available.
