The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office responded on Monday afternoon to Silver Stage Middle School after reports of a confrontation between parents and school staff over students participating in an anti-ICE protest.
The incident occurred around 2:10 p.m. and was in response to a student-led walkout that took place at the end of the school day. Deputies on scene were able to break up the altercation.
There were no injuries, and authorities have not released the identities of those involved. The incident is under investigation, with information being forwarded to the Lyon County District Attorney’s Office to determine if any criminal charges are warranted.
The Lyon County School District confirmed awareness of the incident, issuing a statement: “LCSD understands that students may choose to express their views on local, national, or international issues through demonstrations or walkouts. LCSD does not take a stance on the issues that may prompt these actions.”
