Sparks Police have arrested a man on charges including gross lewdness and stalking following incidents involving two women in the city.
Dispatchers sent officers around 9:34 a.m. Sunday to the Sparks Marina after a woman reported that a man driving a white vehicle approached her while she was jogging. According to the Sparks Police Department (SPD), the man asked for directions, and when the victim approached, she allegedly saw him performing a lewd act before he drove away.
Less than an hour later, at 10 a.m., police received a second call from another jogger near North McCarran Boulevard and Nichols Boulevard. The woman reported being followed by a vehicle matching the description from the first incident.
Officers located and stopped the vehicle, identifying the driver as 28-year-old Pedro Alcala-Saldana. The second victim told police she had seen the identical vehicle the day before, January 31, when Alcala-Saldana allegedly called her over under the pretense of asking for directions and then performed a lewd act.
Authorities booked Alcala-Saldana into the Washoe County Jail on charges of open or gross lewdness, a gross misdemeanor, and stalking. The investigation remains ongoing.
The Sparks Police Department is urging anyone who may have had similar encounters to contact them at (775) 353-2231.
