Three individuals, including two adults and a juvenile, are in custody following a violent chain of events late Thursday night that included an alleged home invasion, reports of gunfire, and a high-speed police pursuit through residential neighborhoods, according to the Elko Brief.
Elko Police Department officers were first dispatched at approximately 11:22 p.m. on Jan. 29 to the 3000 block of Morning Breeze Drive after residents reported that two men forced their way into their home with the intent to commit a robbery. Police said the suspects were confronted by the occupants and forced back outside.
Shortly afterward, officers received reports of gunshots in the area of Clover Hills Drive. Police located a white Ford F-250 believed to be involved and attempted a traffic stop. The driver led officers on a 10-minute pursuit, reaching speeds of up to 65 miles per hour through residential areas.
The chase ended north of the Elko SnoBowl when the vehicle became immobilized. Police arrested two suspects at the scene. A third suspect, identified by police as 23-year-old Josue Garcia of Elko, fled on foot.
Using a police K-9 unit, Garcia was apprehended a quarter of a mile from the vehicle.
Police identified the second adult suspect as Angel Garcia, 18, also of Elko. A 17-year-old male was also involved.
Angel Garcia is being held at the Elko County Jail on charges that include home invasion, attempted robbery, and felony eluding. Josue Garcia faces similar charges. Information regarding the juvenile’s custody status was not immediately available.
The incident remains under investigation, and police have not reported any injuries related to the events.
