Mexican National Charged With Illegal Reentry

A Mexican national is facing federal charges after the Nevada Department of Justice says he was living in the United States illegally following multiple deportations.

According to the DOJ, 48-year-old Ulian Ohye-Michiko faces one count of being a deported alien found in the United States. Authorities say Michiko has been deported 11 times since 2008 and has been living in the U.S. since his most recent reentry in 2020.

Michiko was arrested on Dec. 27 by officers with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department on several charges, including child abuse or neglect, domestic battery, making a false statement to obstruct an investigation, driving without a valid license, driving under the influence, and failing to carry proof of insurance.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement took charge of him on Jan. 13.

Federal prosecutors say Michiko has four prior felony convictions, including aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, possession of drug paraphernalia, and two convictions for illegally reentering the United States after removal.

If convicted, Michiko faces up to 10 years in federal prison, three years of supervised release, a fine of up to $250,000, and deportation back to Mexico.
