Injured Hiker Rescued

An injured hiker was rescued Sunday near Davis Creek Regional Park after slipping on an icy section of trail, according to the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office.

Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue (WCSAR) teams responded to the incident on the Ophir Creek Trail on January 25. Authorities said the hiker slipped on ice and suffered a broken leg approximately a quarter mile up the trail.

WCSAR backcountry teams, working alongside Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District Engine 32, reached the injured hiker and began medical stabilization. The hiker was carried out of the area and transferred to a waiting ambulance before being taken to a local hospital for further treatment.
