Man Convicted of Domestic Battery

A Sparks man was found guilty of domestic battery following a dispute with a former partner and witnessed by a minor.

Prosecutors secured a first-offense domestic battery conviction against Kyle Mullen stemming from an incident that occurred on Sept. 6, 2025. On that day, the victim contacted Sparks Police Dispatch to report a domestic disturbance at a residence in Sparks.

Officers who responded spoke with the woman, who said she and Mullen had dated for approximately two and a half years, separated about a month earlier, and were temporarily living together. She reported that Mullen had asked her via text message to return home to take care of her dog.

When she arrived, an argument ensued over $70 that Mullen claimed she owed him. The woman told police she attempted to leave, but Mullen grabbed her shoulders from behind and pushed her to the ground.

Mullen’s 12-year-old child witnessed part of the incident. Officers documented scrapes on the woman’s right knee.

Police were unable to contact Mullen that night, but spoke with him the following day. He denied a physical altercation, claiming the woman threw herself to the ground. After completing their investigation, officers arrested Mullen.

On Nov. 11, Mullen was convicted and sentenced to 180 days in the Washoe County Jail. The court suspended the jail time for two years.
