Reno, Nev. — Two Reno men are in custody in connection with a series of armed robberies targeting convenience stores, according to a Reno Police Department news release issued Thursday, Jan. 15.
The investigation began in August 2025, when detectives started reviewing a pattern of armed robberies at convenience stores across Reno. Between Aug. 18 and Sept. 20, 2025, four robberies involving two suspects, each incident involving a handgun, were reported.
Detectives canvassed nearby businesses and reviewed hundreds of hours of surveillance video in an effort to identify and track the suspects. The investigation also linked the pair to additional crimes, including vehicle burglaries, commercial burglaries, and grand larceny of motor vehicles.
During the investigation, officers with the Reno Police Department and Sparks Police Department attempted traffic stops on vehicles associated with the suspects. In each case, the automobiles failed to stop, and the pursuit ended for public safety.
Detectives arrested the suspects on Thursday, Dec. 18, 2025, and Wednesday, Jan. 14, at a Reno business.
Christopher Mikesell faces multiple charges, including robbery with a deadly weapon, an ex-felon in possession of a firearm, grand larceny of a firearm, burglary, and possession of a stolen motor vehicle.
