Washoe County, Nev. — Washoe County deputies used drone technology to identify and stop illegal firearm activity in an undisclosed area of the county, according to the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident occurred during an enforcement effort aimed at locating congested areas where unlawful shooting was suspected. As part of that operation, deputies deployed a drone, which captured video of individuals firing guns in an area where shooting is prohibited.
The Sheriff’s Office said the activity created a dangerous and irresponsible situation that posed a serious risk to nearby residents and property. Authorities say that discharging firearms in unauthorized areas can endanger community members, particularly in locations close to homes, roadways, or recreational spaces.
Deputies said they took action after identifying the illegal activity to prevent potential injuries or worse.
