Sparks, Nev. — A man, accused of domestic battery after assaulting a woman inside The Nugget Casino in Sparks, has been convicted.
Jordan Ellingson was convicted of domestic battery, first offense, and sentenced to 180 days in the Washoe County Jail, suspended for two years under multiple conditions. As part of the sentence, Ellingson must serve two days of house arrest, complete 48 hours of community service, pay a $200 fine and a $35 domestic violence fee, complete 26 weeks of domestic violence counseling, take an effects of violence in the home course, obey all laws, abstain from alcohol and controlled substances, and have no contact with the victim.
According to authorities, the victim reported a prior domestic battery incident to law enforcement in Elko on May 20, 2024. The incident occurred on April 27.
The victim told police she woke up in the early morning hours to find Ellingson going through her phone and yelling at her. When she attempted to leave the room, Ellingson grabbed her and pulled her back inside.
Authorities said Ellingson became angry when the victim did not acknowledge him and strangled her. The victim attempted to escape multiple times, but Ellingson continued pulling her back into the room.
The Sparks Police Department received photographs from the victim that showed injuries consistent with her account, police said.
