Man Arrested After Shooting Incident

Fernley, Nev. — Care Flight airlifted a man to the hospital after being shot multiple times Wednesday evening in Fernley, according to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to multiple 911 calls at approximately 6:48 p.m. on Jan. 7, reporting a shooting in the parking lot near Steve’s Homemade Ice Cream at the Fernley Village Marketplace. Northern Command Patrol Area deputies located a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds at the scene.

North Lyon Fire Protection District personnel provided emergency medical care before the victim went to Renown Regional Medical Center. His condition was not immediately released.

Authorities identified the suspect as Cameron Bryce Kessler, 35, of Fernley. Kessler was arrested at the scene without incident and later booked into the Lyon County Jail on charges of attempted murder, battery with a deadly weapon, and discharging a firearm in public.

Investigators say there is no known motive at this time. The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division is handling the case, which remains ongoing.
